The aim of the LBV Alpine Spring Protection Project (LBV-Alpen-Quellschutz-Projektes) is to locate the springs in the research area and assess their ecological state. The negative affects of recreational or agricultural use are also taken into consideration. This investigation should highlight any potential conflicts and possible solutions, which will provide the basis for eventual protection work.
Along with the project in Sudelfeld area the following goals will be pursued:
Finding and describing of the current state of open land springs in the research area
Finding of springs currently under threat from agricultural or recreational use
Demonstration of solutions and creation of guidelines for the protection and optimisation of springs
Characterisation of springs with the goal of type assignment
Demonstration of the possibilities and the limits of spring surveys in the Alpine area
Enlargement of the knowledge pool over Alpine springs and the threats against them
Results of the spring research in Sudelfeld are displayed in Mapserver-Technology
